Current Beauty Faves: Summer 2016

September 5, 2016

This post is bittersweet for me. I’m happy to be sharing with you these 4 products that I have reached for countless times throughout the summer season, but sad to be writing to you now that the summer is (unofficially) over. The end of Labor Day weekend might mean back to school, back to work, or just back to getting stuck behind buses on your (always rushed) morning commute (someone please tell me they can relate?). Whatever September signifies for you, these products are SURE to brighten up your beauty routine for a smooth and pleasant transition into fall.

S.W. Basics Cream – This multi-use cream served as an amazing space saver during my summer travels. It is a luxurious cream that I love to use as both as an after-shower body moisturizer and nourishing and repairing night cream. We might think that heavier-weight creams are only a necessity during the frigid winter months, but personally, I know my skin craves moisture during the summer as well. Between the increased sun exposure, constant air conditioning dryness, and salt water dehydration, your skin is probably screaming for the extra moisture that this cream can provide. The best part? Only three ingredients. Yup. A minimalistic green beauty’s dream.  Just organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, and organic olive oil. And when you thought it couldn’t get any better, no plastic involved in the packaging (glass jar with a standard jar top) AND it’s affordable. You’re welcome in advance for the introduction!

Sappho Organics Liquid Foundation – Let’s keep this short and sweet: I’ve found my holy grail organic foundation. It took a few years, lots of mixing and matching. a number of days that ended with a face of foundation that I was less than happy with; but that’s what I’m here for, right? I do all of the testing for you. Of course all of our skin is different, but I’ve read countless reviews from all different skin types and this foundation is getting UNREAL reviews across the board (read them here for yourself). Bottom line, if you are looking for a foundation that looks absolutely natural, the closest to your real skin, doesn’t dry you out but yet doesn’t make you oily, will stay put throughout your workday (plus a happy hour)… this is your product. Clean ingredients, decent color range, medium coverage – I’m confident that you, too, will happily be ending your search for the perfect organic foundation.

Jose Rosebrook Tinted Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30 – This chocolatey-smelling daily moisturizer brightens up my morning every single day and I would flat out be doing a disservice if I did not share it with you. I use this as the final step in my morning skincare reg: light cream cleanser with ice cold water, refreshing toner, nourishing beauty oil (currently obsessed with this one), and 2 pumps of the nutrient day cream generously applied to my face, neck and leftovers on my hands. It sits beautifully underneath the Sappho foundation that I mentioned above, and is an easy 1-step product to both moisturize and protect your skin from the sun simultaneously. Did I mention it smells like fresh chocolatey goodness? Ok. Just wanted to make that 100% clear.

Eco by Sonya Face Tan Water – If you can relate to being a sucker of the unfortunate tanning salon boom circa 2007-2011, you might be with me in wanting your face nowhere near the sun now a days. I’m still trying to undo all of that tanning salon-inflicted damage from my less secure teenage days. That being said, if I’m laying on the beach you will always find me with a big hat on or a towel covering my face. Unfortunately, this precaution to save my face from premature wrinkles also tends to leave me looking like my body went on a vacation to St. Tropez and my face missed its flight. I found the perfect product to balance out the skin tone on my face to match my body during these summer months. It’s organic, vegan, and the absolute best option I have come across for natural self-tanners. The DHA (bronzing ingredient) is derived from sugar beets, and the rest of the filler ingredients are 100% up to my standards. I like to apply it a few nights a week as the last step of my skincare routine and wake up in the morning with a healthy subtle glow.

Have you also been loving any of these that I mentioned? Any products that you recommend I try? Let me know in the comments below! Happy September loves, enjoy these best few weeks of the year!

Lots of green love,

I was gifted the cream by the sweet team at SW Basics after visiting their HQ in Brooklyn close to a year ago. I was not compensated for writing this piece. This article does include affiliate links.
